The First Step Toward International Exchange is Fully Understanding Your Own CulturebFostering True Cosmopolitans with Understanding of Japanese Traditional Culture

Our program to raise cosmopolitans is based on the spirit as a human, gunderstanding and respecting othersh necessary to promote exchange with people around the world.  We emphasize programs to improve the studentsf foreign language abilities, as a means of communication, but a person cannot be remarked as a true cosmopolitan merely with language proficiency.  Not until one recognizes that each country has characteristic cultures and traditions, fully understands the Japanese culture and traditions as a Japanese, and shares his own culture with others, one will not meet the conditions in becoming a cosmopolitan.
The programs offered to deepen the studentsf understandings of traditional Japanese culture and performing arts are gThe Performing Arts Series,h gDecorum Education,h and gOff-Campus Programs,h as mentioned before.  In gThe Performing Arts Series,h students learn manners at classical concerts and the beauty of Japanese culture from Japanese traditional performing arts, such as kabuki, Noh theater, kyogen, bunraku and rakugo.  In gDecorum Education,h students learn Japanese traditional culture, annual events, and daily etiquettes that are also useful in international society.  gOff-Campus Programh is a program where students learn the traditional culture in life, and acquire education essential for the students to make contributions to international society.
Furthermore, we improved the weakness of the English education in Japan, how people cannot speak and make use of English, by introducing lessons with emphasis on listening and speaking from primary school, taught by native speakers who are skilled in teaching English as a second language.
