Spirit

Akemi Kyodomi, an alumna from the fourteenth graduating class of High School Attached to Seitoku University

When I first entered junior high school, I didnft know about decorum at all. I remember imagining something very formal and hard. However, my image was overthrown after attending class. Decorum sets its importance on valuing others. Itfs not acting in a certain way because of the rule, but Ogasawara School of Decorum has a meaning on each of its movements, and itfs an etiquette based on consideration for others.
From studying decorum, I began to see warm consideration and care from others, which I never noticed before. Now, I live each day, not only thinking about behaving with consideration for myself and others, but also showing the spirit in a form.
I felt that the decorum class enhances studentsf humanity above any other classes, and that it is something necessary to make our society even better. There are other schools, incorporating decorum in higher education, but Seitoku Gakuen is the only school that includes the Ogasawara School of Decorum, the mainstream of Japanese courtesy and etiquette, in the regular curriculum. I am very glad that I got a chance to study decorum at this wonderful school for 6 years.
The beauty is produced when the shape and the form meet for the first time. I hope to live the rest of my life, making the most of decorum, which I learned at this school.
